PETTLS

PETTLS is a stepping stone award and micro-teaching element of the old Certificate in Further and Adult Education Teaching. PETTLS introduces candidates to delivering training.

Teach the Trainer is designed to contribute towards the knowledge and understanding for the Further Education National Training Organisation (FENTO) or the Employment National Training Organisation (EMPNTO) occupational standards.
(These occupational standards are also the framework that underpin the PETTLS award)

Course Duration: 36 Hours

 

CTTLS

The course is comprised of 4 units one of which is PTLLS.

The remaining three units cover:
• Planning and enabling of Learning including initial assessment
• Planning learning and preparing to teach
• Principles of learning, teaching and learning strategies
• Principles of assessment
• Equality and Diversity inclusive learning
• Meeting the needs of all learners

Course Duration: 30 Hours plus

 

A1 Assessor Award

Course summary
The A1 Assessor Award (Level 3) is designed to give candidates the skills, knowledge and understanding to become an accredited workplace assessor. The course combines practical and theory sessions and provides candidates with the opportunity to practice the key skills of assessing. It covers the essential underpinning knowledge in order to gain an accredited qualification.
Prerequisites
This award is for NVQ assessors and therefore candidates must be in employment or a realistic work environment where registered NVQ candidates require assessment.
Course description
The A1 is an individual unit from the Learning and Development NVQ and is a requirement for all those who assess NVQ candidates, or competence based assessments. The programme is made up of group sessions and individual appointments to support and guide the candidate through the award. Course Duration: 36 Hours

A2 Assessor Award

Overview:
This programme is designed to accredit assessors working with NVQ's or outcome based programmes with an assessor's qualification.
Learners will need to work with two candidates and complete 3 plans within their award.
Course Content:
Completion of 4 elements:
• Agree and review plans for assessing candidates performance
• Assess candidates performance against the agreed standards
• Assess candidates knowledge against the agreed standards
• Making an assessment decision and provide feedback

3 days training delivery and portfolio building to include:
• Underpinning Knowledge sessions
• Observation
• Examination of Evidence
• Professional Discussion
• Work Products
• Questioning

Course Duration: 18 Hours

Maybo Physical Intervention Trainer

Physical intervention skills may be needed in some workplaces to manage challenging behaviour safely. Maybo’s physical intervention skills are based on natural movements that do not rely on strength or aggression. These non-violent skills have been legally and medically reviewed and have earned considerable credibility across different sectors.
This module based training varies from disengagement tactics to more advanced rescue techniques, escorting methods through to holding skills. Throughout the course we will examine:

• The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible
• The law in relation to ‘reasonable force’ and ‘self defence’
• The value of assessing a situation before intervening
• Using physical intervention as a last resort
• Possible medical implications
• The potential legal implications of the techniques
• Disengagement techniques
• Escorting and guiding skills
• Holding skills

Course Duration: 18 Hours

 

First Aid Trainer

The course is comprised of:

• Format System of Education
• First Aid 2005 Protocols
• First Aid Subject Workshops
• Course equipment and resource requirements
• First Aid at Work 3 Day Course Delivery and Assessment
• First Aid at Work 2 Day Refresher Course Delivery and Assessment
• Emergency First Aid at Work 1 Day Course Delivery and Assessment

Prerequisite: Valid HSE First Aid at Work Certificate
Experience of First Aid in the Workplace
Training Experience/Qualification
