Level 2 Award in Health & Safety

Course Aims
The aim of this course is allow the student to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Health & Safety at level 2.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

· Understand the importance of health & safety
· State the legal requirements for health & safety in the workplace
· Understand who has responsibility for health & safety in their workplace
· State how to report an accident within their workplace
· Conduct a risk assessment
· Identify common occupational health hazards
· State what action needs to be taken to control/prevent accidents
· Define the term "Welfare prevention at work"
· State the meanings of the different safety signs
· State the importance of the provision of first aid equipment
· Demonstrate basic first aid procedures
· State the different types of personal protective equipment

Level 3 Award in Supervising Health & Safety

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
• Understand the importance of health & safety
• Understand their role in regards to preventing, reporting and investigating accidents
• State which legal requirements and associated guidelines apply to health and safety
• Recognise the reasons for systematic and planned health and safety controls
• Identify and evaluate workplace hazards and risks and their possible effects
• Identify and evaluate workplace and occupational ill health hazards and risks and their possible effects
• Understand the contribution that supervisors should make regarding monitoring and improving health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace

Course Duration: 18 Hours

 

Level 1 Fire Safety

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
• Explain the role of Fire Safety in the Workplace
• Explain the Employers & Employees duties under the Fire Safety Regulation Order 2005
• Explain the requirements needed for a fire to start
• Discuss and Define Emergency Procedures
• Identify and Select the appropriate Fire Extinguisher to the relevant cause of fire

Course Duration: 2 Hours


Level 2 Fire Marshall

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
• Explain the role of Fire Safety in the Workplace
• Explain the Employers & Employees duties under the Fire Safety Regulation Order 2005
• Explain the requirements needed for a fire to start
• Discuss and Define Emergency Procedures
• Identify and Select the appropriate Fire Extinguisher to the relevant cause of fire
• Define the role of a Fire Marshall
• Examine and Discuss a Fire Escape Plan
• Demonstrate the safe use of a Fire Extinguisher

Course Duration: 6 Hours

 

Manual Handling

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
• Describe the function of the spine
• Examine & Discuss Manual Handling Legislation
• Discuss Company Manual Handling policy's
• Understand Ergonomics
• Examine and Discuss Manual Handling Risk Assessment
• Discuss safe handling procedures
• Understand the need for effective teamwork & communication
• Demonstrate safe inanimate load handling
• Demonstrate appropriate skills in assisting a client to carry out daily routines.
